The suspension system of your car is extremely important in terms of both the handling of your car, the smoothness of the ride and the integrity of the steering. Reducing the intrusiveness of imperfect road surfaces, both in terms of noise and impact, is another task which the suspension has to be up to coping with.
The strut bearings generally sit on top of the shock absorbers, positioned between them and the body of the car. They absorb the movement of the shock absorbers whilst reducing friction, and in doing so create a smooth and responsive drive. If your car is starting to feel unresponsive or uncomfortably hard and rough, or the steering is performing badly, then it may be time to check and replace the strut bearings.
